Corn Bake Fundraiser
In light of the uncertainty and many unknowns surrounding the COVID-19 situation, a decision has been made not to have a traditional corn bake this year. Situations such as dealing with food preparations , food service and large group seating present more problems then we feel comfortable handling.
That doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the “baked corn” experience. Baked corn in the husk will be provided to those who would like some. A group has volunteered to provide all corn, labor and distribution of the corn and at the same time use the occasion as an opportunity for a fund raiser, specifically the “Diane Miller Gift of Hope Fund.”
A decision to do the event on a Saturday, July 18th, instead of the traditional Wednesday, will give people an opportunity to have the corn as part of a picnic, outdoor event or just at the dinner table. Pick up will be at the church 3:00 - 4:00 pm.
Corn will be distributed first come, first serve until supply is gone. However, if you want to insure you get corn, we will take orders (in 1/2 dozen increments up to 2 dozen). Orders will be taken on July 13-17th. Realistically we can do about 30 dozen, hence the limit. Orders can be placed by calling or texting Joanne Myers 717-880-2882.
Donations will be taken at pick up. Any checks should be made payable to “Diane Miller Gift of Hope Fund” and are tax deductible. All proceeds will go the fund. We ask that you bring your own container. We suggest some sort of cooler to handle the very hot corn and at the same time retain the heat. This is a new adventure for us. We will do all we can to provide corn to whoever wants it and at the same time provide funds for charity.
If our event is successful we may try again sometime later in the summer, and raise funds for another cause. Let those who do not attend New Fairview, but generally attend the corn bake or just like corn know about the event.
Thank You!
